A gorgeous large sterling silver locket from the Victorian ‘Aesthetic period’.
This was around 1880 to 1890 and was a move away from heavily embellished ‘High Victorian’ often fussy pieces to much more simple stylised designs.
The influence of the ‘Orient’ is also in evidence.
This locket is in lovely condition with no dents. It no longer has its inner glass but one or two photographs could easily be pressed inside.
Each side of this locket has a slightly different design. The catch closes very nicely.
It is 4.7cm long (including the loop) and 2.7cm wide (at the widest point).
It weighs 9.3 grams
The locket is currently hanging on a long heavy sterling silver belcher link chain or could be sold separately.
