Early Australian 15 carat Gold Locket

$0.00

Item Number: 418

A stunning large 15 carat gold and enamel locket made by William Drummond of Melbourne, circa 1900.

It is in fantastic condition and the red, white and brown enamel diamond shape in the centre is even more beautiful than the photographs indicate.

It is nicely hallmarked W and D for the esteemed Victorian jewelers and was, highly likely, made out of gold from the late 1800s Australian gold rush.

The inside fittings of the locket are also fully intact and the photographs give it a real sense of history – although they can be removed.

The height is 5.3cm to the top of loop and the width is 3.8cm.

This locket is very wearable, as well as being an investment piece.

It is also, we think, a romantic piece of Australian history. We don’t know who the two lovers were, but he is wearing a uniform and she is very beautiful. Their love, you might feel, still shines from this wonderful locket.
